Being an EU-migrant I had major problems getting my housing benefit last year. I have lived and worked in the UK for eight years, I passed my habitual residence test, but DWP initially said that I cannot keep my worker status (only job seeker), so Ealing housing benefit office said I was not entitled. I appealed the decision of the DWP and won the appeal. I sent the decision to Ealing housing benefit office, but received no reply. They then said that it takes five months to apeal the decision. They basically try to get you out of the system by all means necessary. I lost ‘only’ three months of rent, but that was my savings of a year of hard work. Anyone has similar experiences?
